The Weather.

Poor Cumbria and SW Scotland. They are getting a real bashing, especially from the rain.

Here's hoping that Moonie and any others that way are safe and sound.

What has amazed me from the pictures on the news is the number of people putting themselves so close to raging waters when at any time the rivers could break their banks. The warnings in such places are RED because there is a danger to life. The message keeps getting put out on the TV and radio, so what is it that these idiot do not understand?

We're OK here, no real flooding in the village but no fields left, but over the mountains everything and everywhere is under water....Keswick, Cockermouth, Burnthwaite, Kendal.

I've a lot of friends over there and most of them have had to be evacuated.

I rang mum this morning as normal and she said the wind had been horrendous through the night.

She sent me a text in the afternoon to say it was pitch black at 3pm and absolutely chucking it.

8pm another text to say the rain had stopped but still very windy.

I hope everyone stays safe and warm. xx

Glad you're OK, MD - it does seem Cumbria got hit really badly.

Just wind down here, mind you the gusts were sustained throughout yesterday and only died down early this morning. Dull and rainy today.

Cumbria and Scotland only got the tail end of the rain and wind after it had had it's way with Ireland and the Isle of Man............

We have loads of flooding and damage, including a double decker bus upside down in a river after the stone bridge it was crossing collapsed consequentally the bus is now blocking the flow of water out to sea and flooding local properties.
