That was stupid!

The Chinese supermarket was selling big bags of dried chilies for 99p, and I do mean BIG bags.

When I opened them they were perfect little gems, about 3 to 4cm long, and amethyst purple - almost black.

Well, I had to try one, as a tester, as a taster.... just a very, minuscule, tiny bit, a molecule.

That was stupid!!!

I should have known, though. The more moisture that is removed the more concentrated whatever is left becomes. Doh!

It depends on the chillies, the old lot I had were nowhere near as hot as these, even when they were new. So I was caught out too when I first used them - but I didn't eat one straight from the bag
