Wm. Try roasting the pumpkin then blend it with some cream, shed loads of Parmesan and lastly pine nuts. Pour over gnocchi Delish.

Oooh, I may just try that Weka - that sounds delicious; I love pumpkin and all the squash family and have two left over because I ran out of time to carve them.

Well I finally got round to trying it last night; and can I just say delish doesn't do it justice. Admittedly I didn't have enough parmesan so added extra mature cheddar as well and I forgot about the pine nuts, but hey ho... it was super yummy! So thanks for posting - another meal to add to my list of favourites that are easy to make x

Everybody I know who has had it loves it. We once made it for an English friend "from oop north.." Wherever that is, pumpkin in his opinion was only to feed to cows, and not something humans should consume, (which I didn't know about, else would have made something else) and when he found out what we were having for dinner went really funny, but politely took a bite and exclaimed "wow" polished his plate and asked for seconds.

The receipe came to us from a friend in Melbourne and was one their nonna made.

I am also from "oop north" (Leeds) and my learned friend and co-northerner forgot to mention that once cows have fed on orange coloured mush and slurry they too are not fit for human consumption.

North is basically a line from the Wirral/Mersy across to the Humber estuary with a dip to include Sheffield. Everything below the line is South, except for Darn Sarf, which is sometimes known as Northern France or t'forrin place.

Some of the World's greatest culinary delicacies, such as Yorkshire pudding, Eccles cakes, black pudding, Newky Broon ale and tripe and onions, are from oop north.

Did I mention sheep? There are lots of sheep oop north. New Zealand, even though it is way down south, is known as the poor man's 'oop north' because of its sheep.

Wm I wish I knew. All I remember him saying that it was a little place not far from the Scottish boarder. I've just looked at the map but no names jumped out at me, only Bootle, I think my g,g,great grandparent was from there. I'll have to ask mum.
