Well done our bank!

Postby Osc » 04 Nov 2015, 19:08

Been busy booking flights and hotels this evening. Worked my way through the system on the British Airways site booking our flights, only for credit card authorisation to be refused at the end  However, I immediately got a text from the bank asking if it was me, I texted back Y for yes, got another text back telling me I could go ahead. So I just reclicked to pay on BA and it all went through :D Isn't that good security, I was most impressed at the speedy (automated) checking on a large transaction.

Flights and all hotels booked! Got what seems to be great value at the Luxor Hotel, we stayed there on our first visit in 1998. It is Egyptian themed and shaped like a pyramid   Gotta love Las Vegas

Had a situation once where I booked &paid for flights & car park in UK for our son
Then I went into town to get some cash and card was refused.came straight home ,rang UK bank to ask about card ,they said we know you live in Madeira but your card is showing it has been used to pay for a car park in Bristol.
I exp!ained why and they said well we have blocked payment and stopped your card.I said but I have just used it online to pay for flights, they said when airline ask for their money it will not be paid_but it was!

On another note there was an occasion when we used my card on the day before flying, the only time in ten years of living here that we have paid with the card.upon weekly check of bank online we had been done for £300 online to USA.rang bank immediately and was refunded the money within 2days,but they said it was,nt worth their time to chase it!how often are banks writing off the money when this happens?

Fairly often I would imagine Voc :? :(

Osc that is good, we've had similar occurrences, and it is good that the banks are so careful with large amounts. Once was in Corfu when I bought B some earrings for her 18th and had forgotten to let my bank know I would be abroad, it got sorted over the phone so all was well :)
