Yes, you can't leave it there Saundra

Ally, that's what we were saying to him - that it's in his own interests that everything goes smoothly, otherwise he won't be trusted to so this again for a while...unless we sit in with them :P

LOL Di, how old is the youngest now?

That's it exactly Jo..it worked both ways. The boys got what they wanted and felt good that they were being trusted. ;)

And we felt happy for them that they were happy..and even happier our house stayed intact.

:? We are leaving Becks for the week when we go to Corfu - she'll be dog-sitting  MIL is literally 5 minutes away and has said if B gets too lonely they can just move in with her................

I think she'll be ok, she is probably one of the most sensible 17 year olds on the planet, but this thread is starting to worry me :?

I think it's a rite if passage for teens to be left alone in the house - a lot depends on the teen themselves and how mature they are though.

When Jen was 16 or 17, T and I went away for the weekend and we knew she had two girlfriends coming to stay overnight. On the Saturday night I got a text off J to say she was really sorry but some 'other people' had turned up and things had got a bit out of hand - I was beside myself!! When we got home, it transpired that she'd also asked a couple of boys along and then a few more showed up, they raided my drinks cabinet (not that I had a lot!) and ate everything in the house   They'd also used the landline......

She spent Sunday cleaning up and tbh if I'd not known about it, I doubt I would have been any the wiser - apart from the food situation and the spirits! But it taught her a valuable lesson....it frightened her as she had no control over these other people, it could have been a LOT worse! She never asked for any sort of party again.....

Kaz, we're leaving Tom for a night in June when we go to London to see Green Day and the Bowie exhibition. Joe will go to my parents for two nights as we'll be leaving early on the Saturday.
I think he'll appreciate the quiet as he'll be midway through his GCSEs.

I'll never forget the party we had at a friend's house when we were Tom's age though. My best friend and I organised it for the Saturday before Christmas as her parents were going to be out. We invited maybe 10-15 friends but it ended up being easily double that and very quickly got out of hand and the house was trashed, just days before Christmas too :(
Maybe that's why I'm a bit extra-wary now with letting Tom have friends around.
