Thanks very much to all.
End of day 1. I'm not allowed to connect my laptop to the network but I have been given something approximating one with a tiny screen which I will do my best to ignore.
They provided me with an email account on the new system they are moving to and software to connect to the OLD email system they are leaving. To add insult to injury the laptop is locked down and I can't install any software. I was good and didn't use my toolbox to change the passwords, lock them out and give me access.
I was talking to the project team and they were telling me about the offices as several people I knew came up and started talking to me. In all it's been quite a relaxing day and I'm getting into what needs to be done.
Hobbling around on my left leg with my Achilles swollen right up is not so much fun but the ball on Saturday night was really good and we met loads of friends we haven't seen for quite a while.
Next step is for accommodation and settling into the work.
