I doubt it Gal, I have a fair few US Facebook friends these days, and from what I read it seems the NRA (pro-gun) have a very powerful political presence :(

I agree with Di - if guns were harder to get hold of then someone running amok with a knife or their fists will (in general) do much less damage :(

Thanks everyone xx

Shocking, absolutely shocking.

The States is a strange place. I have felt as safe there as anywhere else, and a lot safer than some places.

One work trip I was in a motel next to a shopping mall area. In one department store there was a wall of shotguns and rifles and the glass topped display counter had handguns of any shape and size. Walk in - buy one - walk out. Madness!

That's bad, Kaz. Sadly, there seems no appetite for introducing any sort of curbs on guns in the USA.

If they couldn't get any legislation through after the Sandy Hook school shooting, I doubt they ever will.

How dreadful!!

I watched Bowling for Columbine not so long ago and that was a real eye opener. It said that per head of population, gun ownership in Canada was almost the same as the USA but shootings are rare there. Just a totally different mindset.
