I agree

Yes, it's what I've always stressed, it's one thing at home although they should still eat 'nicely', but when out they have to know what to do.
Plus with any job you never know if you'll be sent on a training course, or have to stay in a hotel, or go to a posh lunch do. It's the same principal with the food, if all they'll eat at home is chicken nuggets then they'll be embarrassed at a proper restaurant.

Do you all eat at the table? We always have lunch and dinner there although breakfast is usually eaten at the breakfast bar as everyone seems to come down to eat at different times, unless it's someone's birthday and then it's a special breakfast at the table.

It is amazing just how many of those supposedly classy people, worth a fortune, living in big houses, who dress in the finest of clothes, and drive the most expensive vehicles, who have a pseudo classy accent.. "show their roots the moment they pick up their eating utensils".

In Weeze, Germany, there is an eatery colloquially known as "Momma's", it was recommended by Egon Ronay.

The place was a favourite haunt of the RAF - all ranks - and the favourite dish was halb hãhnchen mit frites. This was a half chicken, marinaded in beer slops and a secret mix of herbs and spices, then deep fried to perfection. It was served on a wooden platter on a slice of bread to soak up the juices. There was not an eating iron in sight just a hot towel and a bowl of lemon water - fingers were the order of the day.

Yes Jo we always eat at the table, except for pizzas which are sometimes eaten in front of the TV on a Saturday night It happens when Strictly is on, but when youngest is here he and Bb still eat at the table, it started years ago when I was the only one who wanted to watch it.

We actually only very rarely use the table to eat There is only myself and Jen most of the time though and we are very relaxed of an evening....a cushion and a plate on our laps watching something on telly In our defence, we do use knife and fork in the correct way

We are a well mannered lot on here arent we? I remember taking a friends adult daughter out for dinner one evening many years ago, her lack of etiquette was deplorable.. I told her "that no matter where she came from, however successful she might turn out to be in life (she was a potential high flyer"!! ) her navvy like use of her eating utensils would let her down.. She was furious, "How dare you tell me how to use my knife and fork" she exclaimed ....The subject was dropped "under a cloud"!!!.. HOWEVER a year or so later we met again and she her mother and I went out to eat... Success.... Perfect table manners And highly successful!!!

We always eat at the table, with oliver strapped into his chair. Sasha is about to experience the same thing as it is getting harder to keep her sitting in her chair for the duration of the meal

In about 6 months time I'm going to insist she use cutlery all the time, unles it's something like pizza or sandwiches.
