Eye Report

Postby Diflower » 16 Sep 2015, 17:40

We were there ages, as first the eyesight is tested, the the chilli-drops, wait, then we saw the Prof who wanted a scan as well, so off we went again, wait, scan, back, wait, then saw the surgeon...

We did know that Bb could see a little bit better than before this last op, even with part of the airball still there, but didn't want to say anything till we knew more about it.
He could see about the top two lines of the letter chart but from several steps forward (before this op he couldn't see any of it).

The Prof told us when he operated this last time he was amazed at the state of Bb's eye, that the scar tissue was like nothing he'd seen before.
Apparently there was a high risk of the retina re-detaching so he was pretty pleased that it hadn't.
He was glad Bb could see a bit, and said it would/should continue to improve over the next few months.

We are definitely allowed to go on holiday :D
With very strict instructions to get medical help if there's any sign of a problem.
Also yet another lot of drops to help with the inflammation.

Basically, 3 operations and 5 weeks from the first operation it's backwards from where they hoped it would be after the first 5 days, but it does look (so far) as if he will be able to see.
Phew!!

That holiday is going to be just what you need, and maybe the rest and relaxation will help the eye improve more xx

The holiday is definitely perfectly timed, it's all been (and still is) very worrying, tiring and stressful

I agree about the stress, Di, but it is good news for you and Bb and the holiday is well timed. Enjoy yourselves and try to relax.
