Think the planet is safe?

Postby Workingman » 29 Nov 2012, 13:29

Think again. Take a look at this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20310752

400 billion barrels of oil - 400 BILLION!... and there's MORE!

We are addicted, so we are going to burn that stuff like there's no tomorrow. Well, there might not be much of a tomorrow for our grand children if we carry on the way we are doing. They will just have to burn the trees to keep warm and power they new-fangled steam engine cars. At least they will not have to pander to those odd environmentalists and their weird ideas... we will have already trashed the environment beyond repair.

You think that's bad? There are an estimated 1million to 5 million Cubic Kilometers of methane clathrates on the sea beds. Which they are now just trying to work out how to mine.

Trash the planet? Certainly won't just be with the end of the Oil, they're going for broke. At least 10C from the interglacial average.....

I do think it's bad..... and I know about the clathrates.

My fear is for my (yet unborn) grand children. The poor of the planet already know how to survive - they do it day by day. We in the West rely on the artificial life support system provided by capitalism, globalist economics and technology. When it all fails we are the ones in most danger.

The meek will inherit, they really will.

Enjoy it whilst you can. It's all going to end on 21st December. I'm leaving my Christmas shopping and card writing until the 22nd.

I hope it doesn't. I'm looking forward to another Christmas. :D

Seriously, though, I think it is very sad that the human race seems doomed to become extinct, or else to have to revert to the prmitive lifestyle that our ancestors had. Looking at it all against the background of perhaps a million years or so, the human race hasn't been one of Nature's most successful achievements, has it ? No other lifeform on Earth has a record of wanton destruction and killing just for the sake of it. The trouble is that man's activities have drastically reduced other lifeforms on this planet and will leave behind a legacy of a spoilt planet.

So, make hay while the sun shines, eh?

If you dig enough, the literal translation is that the current age will end and we will enter the "Golden Age".

We might even grow up as a species...... :o :o
