Lily's baby quilt

Postby Gal » 27 Aug 2015, 15:32

Not sure which board is most appropriate for this - hope this is ok!

So - following on from Sunday's thread where I said I was sewing squares of Lily's babygros and first size dresses from when she was first born....like this

And this is how it looks now after sewing wadding inside and a plain pink backing fabric

I'm going to add a few little bits and bobs, maybe a few buttons and bows.....I wanted to have a square with "Lily" on it but I couldn't figure out how to do that

That's lovely can't you embroider a flower on one of the plain squares or just do her name in coloured pens on fabric

It's lovely Gal, how about a separate square sewn to the back with Lily and date of birth?

That is just the loveliest thing Gal.

If someone had done that for any of my 3 babies I would have been over the moon with it. xxxxx

Thank you all so much, it has been quite a labour of love, I had my heart in my mouth all the while I was machining it  :D

A flower??  I'm not much cop at embroidery unless it's a predesigned cross stitch.....considering sewing some pretty buttons on in the shape of the letters of her name on four of the plain squares....and yes Di the idea of a little plaque thing has crossed my mind but I'll have to look out some felt or something to do it on. I'm taking it up to theirs tomorrow to present her with it so I need to get cracking ;)

Only just found this and just had to add my admiration to this post. It's really beautiful her parents should be well pleased with it.

Just seen this - thank you Cal xxx

I did make her a little plaque thing and sewed it to the back of the quilt, and I also machined the front to the back along some of the joins of the squares - THAT was tough!! Donna was absolutely thrilled with it when I took it for her, it was easily the star of the show :D :D
