Renewing your motor insurance ....

Postby TheOstrich » 24 Aug 2015, 19:01

... is a blinkin' palaver. One might almost say a kerfuffle.

Photocopies of all licences now required by the brokers, proposal forms to be signed and returned, mountains of paperwork to read ......

I do all mine online.

When we got the new car, the insurance was transferred by a phone call. However, I was infuriated to have to pay an extra amount, even though it is a smaller engine....she gave me some waffle but I didn't believe it. This is Axa who wanted to charge stupid money subsequently for home insurance. I insured elsewhere then, and will be shopping around for the motor insurance when it comes up for renewal :x

Did mine in June but I did not have any of that. All I had to do was not respond to the e-mai. I did phone though and got a bit off, was expecting an age loading
but fearful for next year.l

Mine is on automatic renewal - I'm with Aviva (one of the few insurances that will cover foreign licence holders) so no hassle for me thankfully.

Osc, it'll be interesting to see how much my insurance will change with the new car :? :(

Mine is due in October.
I will have to haggle as I am only going to pay as much as last year or even less if they want my business. Will try several different ones on line and will phone any which look promising.
House insurance is through John Lewis as we don't need valuations for both buildings or contents. Reasonable price, Uk call centre, easy to understand policy and had good service when I had to make a claim for a blocked drain three years ago.
