Actually, I do agree with Shell, to a degree, but not really about the drunks. Wedding drunks are not the same as High St drunks on a Saturday night: but whatever.

However, if you are not of the 'in' crowd and already know loads of the guests you can feel a bit marginalised. On the other hand it gives you the opportunity to get in there and make new friends.

Swings and roundabouts.

Coming in late to this Ria, but it seems as though you have it all planned sensibly anyway ;) These things vary so much, it's hard to say how it will be until you get there

Hope you have a lovely evening :) xxx

Just to update you (if you're interested :D )

I found a gastro pub not far from the wedding venue so I booked a table for 6.30 when they started serving food. We got there about 5.30 so had a drink (or two) whilst waiting for their kitchen to open and then we had dinner; which was just as well. We got to the wedding venue for 7.30 as per the invite and went through to the area where the evening reception was taking place. There were two very large jars with nuts as nibbles and a pay bar and then about 9pm or so a cheeseboard was laid out together with the wedding cake slices and some Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. So just as well we had that burger; otherwise we'd have been ravenous by the time we left.

The return journey was also longer than expected due to road closures and an accident that diverted us, but hey ho - the bride looked absolutely amazing and we had a lovely time

I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves Ria :D :D To me, it seems a bit 'tight' to not lay on an evening buffet, but I know this is becoming the norm now xxx

Good to read that you had a good time, Ria, but sad to hear about the food.

In the context of the price of a wedding how much is an open buffet for the evening?
