((((((((Lissie)))))))) sending love and hugs xxx

I agree with shell, as we get older our confidence is not what it was. Although I've always been happy to drive just about anywhere, I must admit I find it much more difficult these days, definitely a confidence issue. Please be kind to yourself, take things very slowly, just sitting in the car with the engine running could be a start. In the meantime, it's more important to get better xxx

Agree with all the others, Lissie only time can heal but the future is bright, summer is nigh or I thought it was yesterday but it seems to have taken a backwards move this morning. Agree too that painkillers can be lowering but do keep driving and restore your confidence. xx

Thanks for your replies--they do help :)
The trouble is Di--i am not a tough cookie--i have had to toughen up to
take over and look after Don since his strokes.
He was always the strong one who looked after me. :)
I cannot ask the family for more help as Son lives 70 miles away and
Daughter and family are on holiday for a fortnight.
Son took Friday off work and came and did the shopping and all the
insurance work for me and Daughter and SIL picked us up from the Hospital
so they have all been good :D
The kids think i am strong and indestructible but believe me i am not.
Will just have to pull myself together and carry on :D :D

Fair enough Lissie, shame about the timing of the holiday but can't be helped.
I hope you at least feel a bit better about not feeling better yet, take it slowly (((x)))

perhapes lissie you could join a club and meet other people
in the same position as you and D
the stroke club or age concern
mind we have no age concern here
hope fully D will reconsider a move near your son now
we all try to be independent dont we
iv always been the organizer and decision maker
as bill never would
all he did was work  and tell me the dates of his holidays :)
it must be very difficult to take over these things due to illness
take care xx

I'm so sorry to hear about your suffering, Lissie.

I can understand just how you feel. Get yourself well physically before you attempt driving again,
and then just go a little drive round the block when the traffic is light. You will, I'm sure, soon get
your confidence back. Don't let someone-else's bad driving spoil your life.
