a cafe we use quite regularly -coffee 80 cents ,tea 80 cents

this morning ,same lady -coffee is 1.20 tea is 1.50,um excuse me i don't think so-new receipt both at 80 cents

this afternoon a man (who turned out to be the boss) coffee 1.20 ,told him usually 80 cents,he said girls have been charging you wrong. went back with a local lad who challenged him and i pointed out his price list said 80 cents(which he would'nt come and look at and is behind the open door)-after a bit of arguing a new receipt appeared 80 cents!

complaints book in the morning when he is not there

I would be finding a new cafe even if dearer rather than give him any more custom.

And, were he obtuse I would tell all my friends and neighbours as well.

Did he think you were a tourist, Vic, and try to get away with it?

I have been caught the same way.

The complaints book - for those of you who may not know - is taken very seriously over here and Madeira.

Often, if you complain, the police are called

If you make a complaint, then the owner of the establishment has to sort it out - and very quickly.

On an aside, did you know, if you didn't apply for planning permission for a pool, you can get fined up to 200,000 :o :o :o :o :o
