Clearly you have not made it painful enough for him. I can't/won't try and fix stuff for Mrs S even if it is my job. As for telling her how to make clothes or cook or even paper and paint... I'd rather stick my hand in the fire.

So, I now have an all new, all singing, all dancing and very fast computer. He's put in a new hard drive, bigger, quicker than the last one (6years ago) new software for viruses ad other stuff which went in one ear an out t'other.

I still have to download a shed load of stuff, but it's looking good so far

Good news. Yes drives have improved greatly since 6 years ago. However also as you put in all the updates it will get slower again. Life, as we know it. I replaced my SSD (flash drive instead of rotating disk), last week due to errors on it. The result is quite a bit faster.

If you don't ask we can't help. We want to help. So please ask...

I'm a bit fik about knitting, although I can drive a sewing machine pretty well. Horses for courses....
