*Happy Dance*

Mick has just heard about his bonus for this year, it's a good 'un so we might just about squeeze a week in the sun out of it as well as the much much needed carpeting for the stairs and landings :D :D 8-)

I've just spent a happy half hour on Travelzoo, but we might just go back to Corfu I think  Boring of us but it's just soooo lovely there. Only slight worry is that in Sept/Oct when we're thinking of going you can't always guarantee the weather, and we were unlucky with it in May last year, so maybe the Canaries might be safer? :? 8-) :D

That hasn't half cheered me up!! :D

How brilliantly lovely Kaz :D

It may well be gorgeous in Corfu - I went twice in October and never saw a drop of rain.
What's the general annual picture?

Might I suggest Tunisia the weather will still be nice by then and we had a great holiday there a couple of years ago.

We felt very safe even though we were there over a local holiday and many rooms of the 4* all inclusive Hotel were occupied by locals, the dining room staff were very good and attentive, on seeing you arrive in the dining room one would dash over to take you to a table and get drinks for you, you then went and chose your meal from a big range of foods, there are many places to visit and tours also and we hired a taxi and driver for about £30 for the day on the second week and he took us to see some of the out of the way sights and smaller local cafes etc for meals, the day out was over 8 hours and we covered about 200 miles.

They also made Starwars (the film) out there and you can go to see where it was filmed (if you're fit) lol too much walking for me and kath and it is over 2-3 days you go one day stop overnight then tour the day after and another overnight then travel back.

Everywhere was clean and shopkeepers helpful and polite, bacon butties and pork chops were hard to come by though hehe.

It was also very reasonable at about £500 each all in, flights hotel and food etc.

That sounds fab Manxie, but is around £100 each more than the Corfu one, which is a brilliant bargain for all inclusive ;) :D I am determined to get those carpets :P ;) :D

Di generally Sept/Oct is still warm out there and the sea is warmer than in the Spring, but Corfu does get a lot of rain - in fact it gets as much rain as London ( ) but almost all of it in the Winter months, which is why it is not 'open' as it were from November to mid-April, in fact no direct flights from the UK then, which kind of tells its own story ;) It can vary a bit though, we got lots of rain last May and then last September they got a fair bit too.

not at all boring Kaz. Yes, it probably would be nice to see / go something new, but if you've only got a short time I think going back to somewhere you've been before is a lot more relaxing. Because then you don't feel 'obliged' to do any sightseeing etc but can literally start relaxing the moment you arrive

I'm heading to Turkey the beginning of September (and yes, back to the same place I've been a few times) and having been there in September before it really is a lovely time of year. The sea is so much warmer because it's had the season to warm up; not as touristy because most schools are back - it's just perfect. But as said it is right beginning September

Enjoy!!!

Brilliant news! No problem going back to where you have been before, especially if it is for a week of sun and relaxation. We went to the same hotel in Tunisia ten times - it was when we were working and was always purely a week of doing nothing, so it was great not to have to learn our way around a new place.
