For all those techno questions

Just to let you all know that yesterday I went ahead and ordered the camera that Frank posted the link to - purely because it was available on amazon prime and could be delivered today - talk about being impatient and lazy.

It's arrived so I'll be trying to set it up tonight - wish me luck!

Yes, good luck with it.

At least you will know what you need after you have played with it for a while. I find with solutions you are not sure of the only possible way to determine is to just try it out. Everyone presents their solution in the best possible light.

Well, I set it up and so far it's OK... the one thing I didn't pick up in the spec is that max length of the video clips is only 20 seconds; whereas most other cameras seem to have up to a minute. But that's the only 'gripe'. For the price it's working really well and it's fun.

The first two nights I had it set in my front garden. The first night it was set to photo mode only and then the 2nd night I set to video mode. Last night (ie night 3) I set it up (still on video mode) for the area between my front garden and the road (still mine but not fenced in).

Night one I got some photo's of the hedgehog and unsurprisingly quite a few of my cats. Turns out Ava was very curious about the camera and I have a few cute close ups of her inspecting it. Night two a few video clips - again of the cats and some of the hog and a nice one in the morning hours of a female

Last night definitely was the more interesting; three different foxes (looked like one dog fox and two vixens - both obviously with cubs somewhere as you could see their teats quite clearly) and one or two hedgehogs; can't quite tell the difference on them. The dog fox looked as though he's a bit lame poor thing; and one of the vixens also had seen better days but the 2nd vixen looked really healthy

So all in all, whilst the video length could be a bit longer it'll do - lots of fun

Oops, sorry about the video time slot, but for the rest you (and the cats) certainly appear to be having fun. :D :D :D

Getting hedgehogs, foxes and the cats all in one place is quite a collection.

Oh don't apologise Frank - it's a super camera, it really is and I'm glad I went for it. And I saw today that someone who belongs to another 'hedgie' forum has the same :D The quality of the pictures is really not bad :D

At one point I had my Monty lying in a chair right where the fox was. Must admit it did worry me a bit so I will be rearranging that area so Monty would have an escape route if it's needed

I have thought about getting one of these, but then again I'm not sure I want to know if we have foxes about

Shell, it really is quite fascinating. Last nights clips showed that I actually have four foxes that come visit so I definitely need to make an alternate plan about where I'm feeding them. It's quite odd to see their differing conditions; one is really super healthy, two are OK and one is really skinny and scrawny and looks as though he may have mange. I'm helping out at an open day at Wildlife Aid in Leatherhead (them of the Wildlife SOS TV programme) in a few weeks time; so will ask if I can pick up something when I'm there and then leave it out in the food. Whatever it'll be will be holistic / natural so won't do harm to any other creatures

But from a pure interest factor; this camera has been money well spent :D

You know what, I am sorely tempted.

I know that we have hedgehogs and foxes, and some of the neighbours' cats do roam at night. We also have owls, and with the green being surrounded with woods and shrubs there could be things for them to hunt. Hmmmm.
