I'm really eager to see the photos of the new puppies

I think the pup will be good for Barney, Kate. He'll obviously be a little jealous at first but as long as he continues to get his pets he'll soon adapt and it will give him a new lease of life.

As you say, if you became too unfit to care for your new puppy, you know he'll always have a good home with your daughter.

I was and am aware that being in my 80th year one does not live forever, and this fact needed consideration when contemplating taking on another young pup...However Gusty had said there would be no hesitation when it comes to
her taking them on should anything happen to me.. Oscar is a bit of a bully, Gusty's Louie is quite a gentle little fellow.. Ruby loves them, Barney has been more tolerant today than he was yesterday, and he just disappears into the dining room if he gets too much, and of course he gets lots and lots of cuddles so as he will not feel left out.
Oscar is a nipper, ankles, coats, wellingtons and his teeth are razor sharp.. I gave him a carrot last night (a big one) to my amazement he had eaten the lot and this morning I had a machine load of his bedding and teddy bears to wash..
Ah the joys of motherhood I will take some photo;s taken tomorrow Shaz... Kas bless her has said that she will put them on our forum for me...Have a great New Year, Good Health, Happiness and all you wish for yourself and those whom you love.xxx

How ridiculous, they're only going to get thrown away aren't they?!
We have a great little independent greengrocers in town who lets people have 'bits' for animals.

The well orgainised squatters inform us that they live like lords with the food thrown out in supermarkets.

He is really naughty, and I mean naughty, defiant, if I tell him off he barks at me Barney wagged his tail once today when Oscar attempted to get his attention, he has taken off to the peace and quiet of the bedroom...He would eat all day long, what a little gannet.. The carrot disappeared overnight I couldn't believe it the next morning to find it gone, I thought he would just scratch the surface of it!!!
Electric cables he had my computer off of the table pulling its electric lead!!! "No amused"
Gusty has the gentle one, trust me to pick the ruffian!!! He will quieten down, not sure how to react when he bites, and he does continually.. I think he is learning the meaning of NO..

Just say no and walk away. Do not make eye contact, do not make a big fuss. At least thats how it was when mine were puppies, though I am sure, as with children, thinking changes

Yes, Pepper was nippy and that's how we handled it

Same here with Billy, he eventually had to have quite a few of those razor sharp teeth surgically removed because they were firmly embedded into his gums. He had practically two sets of gnashers for a time

He will have to be confined when the grandchildren come to visit, he really nips!!! He is out for the count at the moment and he wears himself out running around like a banshee with his little bum waggling!!
I feed him three times a day he seems ravenous when food is about.. How much puppy food and biscuits do you dear ones recommend.. he is either 4 kilos or 4 lbs, not sure which one!!!
I never had these problems with our labrador pups.. "Or maybe I have forgotten"!!!

Kate, did you get a diet sheet and some food that he was used to when you bought him? He really should still be being fed four times a day as he is only about 7 weeks isn't he?

Again things change but mine used to have scrambled egg, or weetabix for breakfast, a meat and puppy meal food for lunch, a lighter meal in the afternoon (pilchards, rice pudding, or something similar but that was 20 odd years ago) and a meat meal at night, I used to feed them every four hours. You can buy the all in one puppy food but personally I think he is a bit young for that.

As I say, mine were babies a long, long time ago, and I am sure the others will have different suggestions to mine.
