Usually two to the left of the space bar...

It's too hard to know who knows what. Winkey or Windows key is normal terminology but not everybody knows it...

As I said Suff, dim grey haird old biddy, that's me.

I've forgotten most things I used to do at work, because that was almost 11 years ago now  and I only use the computer for "stuff", not work.

Think it would be easy, wouldn't you?

I can get the file up, as in it's on my computer, but can I actually open it?? Can heck I can.

Think I'll have to wait until a computer savvy mate comes along.

Thanks both xx

Open Acrobat then from File>>>Open navigate to where you put the manual. :D

ETA in My Computer if you right click on the file go to Open With and then choose Acrobat. In the same pane you can tick the option to 'open files of this type' down near the bottom left. From then on double clicking on a .pdf will open Acrobat and the file.

Ton, 11 years ago most keyboards didn't have the windows key. Hence why people don't know the term.

Nothing to do with you, I made an assumption and should have been a bit more precise. However now you know it is there, there are a few combinations which are useful. winkey+r opens the run box. Winkey +m minimises the current window.. winkey +d takes you to the desktop.

There are a few others but they are more of use work such as Winkey+p which brings up the projection and multi monitor options. Great when you connect a laptop to a projector but not so useful otherwise.

Just being here and doing what you do is an achievement. Many struggle with it. Granted many 12 year olds can navigate this world easily. But it is very surface knowledge. As soon as something goes wrong, you find that many of them actually know less than you think....

You could try right clicking on the file in Windows explorer and telling us what it says the file type is... Windows, by default, hides the file extension and gives an icon in Explorer which you would need to be a sad geek who lives in a dark room to recognise....

For instance Windows tells me that one of my Acrobat documents is

Type of file: Adobe Acrobat Document (.pdf)
Opens With: Adobe Reader

That information would make things easier to diagnose.
