Our second house had a line of eight Leylandi in the front garden. They had grown to about 14 feet and needed seeing to. I lopped them to six foot, but then they became 'thicker' with foliage. I eventually hired a chainsaw and took them right back to ground level, then drilled the stumps and filled them with root killer. Best thing I ever did.

Lissie, I am thinking that you be sick of their new look after a while and might go the whole hog and get rid completely.

You do realise that by removing trees you are in danger of heave, which can cause more problems than leaving them.

When the horrible man over the back made us have our beautiful trees cut down, he had to indemnify us against heave being caused and any claims from our property because of heave would have been down to him.

You have to laugh--after asking us to cut the trees down to 5ft (i suggested cutting them down to
their bedroom level to give them privacy) we were sitting in the garden and saw that they
have got their bedroom curtains closed
I don`t reckon she realised how short 5ft was.
We sat there and laughed

lissie :D (too late now --i wonder if they will put a 10ft fence up now)
