Been given a cd

For all those techno questions

Been given a cd

Postby tonicha » 02 Jun 2015, 11:32

from Honda, which is the English version of the car manual.

Can I just put it in the computer? Or do I need to open a file and keep it that way?

Not sure, though, that my computer could cope with a huge file like that.

Ton, the manual will not take up the whole CD, it is probably a .pdf.

If you open My Computer/Windows Explorer you can explore the CD. When you find the English language version of the manual simply Copy & Paste it to a folder on your computer.

When you stick it in the machine Windows should ask you if you want to view (explore) the files on it and should bring up Windows Explorer.

There should be one file on it which, as WM says, will be an Adobe Acrobat PDF (portable document file).

I'd be surprised if it was more than 5mb. The CD can hold 650 and your computer should have thousands of mb of space free on it.

Being a dumb/dim grey/blonde    shoved the cd in but I don't have adobe reader - and I wasn't sure /can't actually remember, how to open/make a new folder - it's been years since I've done it.

How difficult is Adobe to download? Where do I find it?

Sorry

I do not use Adobe any more but I think it goes something like this:
Open Adobe Acrobat
From File>>>Open navigate the CD and the English version of the manual.
Once the file is opened and you can read it you are almost there.
From File>>>Save as, choose a place to save the manual, let's say My Documents, that's it, done.
Close Adobe Acrobat
Go to My Documents and the manual should be there. Double click on it and Adobe should open it for you to read.
Have fun.

Just remember that when you close Windows Explorer after putting the CD in, the quickest way to get it up again to go to My Documents and open the manual is to press Winkey + E together....
