Where we go dancing, one of the teachers has been married and has a son and daughter.
He divorced his wife and lived with a male partner for several years before the law was changed in the UK and they are now married. He has retired but his partner is still working.
Like victor said, It is the children who may suffer.

Many children thrive in many ways and in many different types of family and background. I cannot honestly see why a same sex family should be any different, though I do foresee difficulties in producing children.

The yes vote in the Republic means that here in Northern Ireland we are the only dinosaurs in the UK who have not legalised gay marriage. I think WM might be right that quite a number of yes voters were giving the church a kick and I think it's sad that the religious element here are holding it back. When oh when will religion influence be removed from the legislative process?

Straight marriages going wrong can also cause children to suffer, so I don't see the difference here TBH :?

I tell you what, PP, the No campaign down here was nasty and vicious with lots of red herring throwing - I shudder to think what it would be if it ever comes to a popular vote in Northern Ireland  Our Prime Minister has been really good at working to separate church and state and to be honest, I think the church has already been getting an ongoing kicking for some years, so for this referendum, most didn't vote Yes to take it out on the church because the church has become irrelevant for a lot of people already.
