Can anyone here code it? I can read it but don't know enough to code and I have a function that needs changing as I'm trying to drag an access 1.1 database up to 2013. I think its complaining on the old method of doing a recordset.

Sorry Weka, I used BASIC back in the ZX Spectrum days and did a bit of MC and Java at Uni, but I never got on with programming.

Can you not find sites where you can pick up bits of code to insert? You could always mark the old code as info and go back to it if the new routines fail.

I've read through unibasic before, but that's all so I'm having to rely heavily on that.
Half the problem is I don't fully understand what the existing one is doing enough to be able to start chopping code from the web.
I thought it was worth the question as it is only a very small piece of code and would only take someone who knows what they are doing 5-10 mins to give me the syntax.
I'll keep plugging away. At least I'm learning loads

I code in VB from time to time and it's been quite a while since I programmed anything in Access.

Can you punt me the code and an idea of the DB/Table being worked on and I'll see if I can help.

I've been doing manual work (digging out and concreting all weekend and being burned to a crisp by the sun.... I have a new Wife Beater style upper body in red and white...

Sorry to hear you have been ill. Hope you are feeling better now.

I'll look at the PM tonight. I'm supposed to be going out with a friend tonight for a drink and I travel tomorrow but I'll have a look and see how much I can help.

There are so many ways of doing things with Access, the last time I was working on it I was creating change queries with the interface; then running them from script.

More when I have a little time. At least it's something to do when I'm not sleeping. I can also get the information on my Netbook and have a look on the way home tomorrow. Weekends are sacrosance for DIY/Garden Work.... Not that "computer" stuff Mrs S thinks I do all day long when I'm actually working in boring meetings and trying to get people to do the interesting techie stuff for me.

If not my youngest son is a Senior Systems Analyst Architect (whatever that is?) and works for a large worldwide company and is a troubleshooter for them, had you said earlier he has just returned from 3 weeks in New Zealand just next door to you really hehe. A new place for him as mostly he is flying to the US on trips, but usually shorter visits.

Like I said you will no doubt get help from Suff but please contact me if not and I will ask him to take a look for you, he has been into computing since he was 9 (33 now) and does a lot on Linux but can programme in most computer languages we bought him some manuals and cd's in his early days and he taught himself about 6 different ones back then, and has been fixing bugs for Linux since he was 12 as his hobby almost, he looked for a summer job at 16 while doing O levels GCSE's started work the day after applying and amazed his boss as he knew more than some of his middle aged managers did so they asked him to stop full time which he did.

And cut out the uni years, (with no income) as his employer sent him on courses to gain the paper qualifications, so did 2/3 subsequent employers as he moved on upwards.

To say I am proud is an understatement, and I am sorry you had to read my bit of a brag about him, but I get little chance these days to tell anyone.

I think most of his current work is Linux based
