Help!!

Postby Weka » 27 Jan 2013, 11:34

My cat is stuck on the roof. At the very top. It's a concert tile roof with a 40degree pitch. And the roof as a fine dust all over it so I'm not confident to climb up.

Need ideas fast. It just after midnight and he really is stuck. He's meowing

  Is there a non emergency part of the fire brigade that can come out with extra long ladders?

Fingers crossed all is well. :o

Have you a long ladder Weka? Put that up as near to the cat as you can.

He will get down, ours did the same. There I was stood in the High Street, Chipping Sodbury, at 2.00 in the morning calling the blasted cat. In just a dressing gown

He kept calling out to me, then disappear and I though the daft thing had fallen.

The milkman came over to help and that made it worse

After about half an hour, he made his own way down.

I've just called the council and they have out me through to the SPCA. I wondered about fire brigade too. It's definitely going to need a long ladder.

Sigh, their suggestion was leave some food out. That's not going to work, he started slipping when he tried to climb down to me.

Ton, we don't have any ladders here long enough. It's over 2 stories high

The local fire brigade is happy to do it, but needs th official call. So did as told and phoned the emergency number and was told by a very shirty man that they don't do that sort of thing. Phoned our local one back and he has said that if he is still there in the morning he will try and slip round off the books, but nothing promised.
 Looks like George has a cold night up there in the wind.

What about a tree surgeon? There was a piece in our local paper about a cat being rescued by a tree surgeon, they used a cherry picker to get him.

I know a house roof is more awkward but they might have tall enough ladders.

My feelings with cats, generally is - they've got up there, so they should be able to get down again.

When we had a tall fence dividing mine and my neighbours gardens (it blew down in strong winds last year and we left it) Tinker used to jump on it and then from there up to my garage roof. Many's the time I have climbed up ladders to get him back down, but he could do it all by himself all along, as we discovered one day!

Hope yours is ok Weka xx
