I did wonder what is crime novels would be like Debbie, it's not the kind of book I read but I've enjoyed everything he's written when it's come to things like Man And Boy.

I'm currently reading Far From The East End by Iris Jones Simantel. It's her story of growing up in the East End during the Second World War, and I've just got to the bit where she's evacuated as a 5 year old.

I have given up on the Tony Parsons - it was really slow and I got to the point where I really didn't care who did it!!!

I picked a book I had ordered up from the library today - The Book of You by Claire Kendal. I started it about an hour ago and am completely hooked. Its a shame I am going out to craft group tonight or I think I'd finish it.

Its sort of two stories in one - about a woman who is doing jury service and the story of what is happening there and then running alongside that is the notebook that she is writing to keep a log of what is happening with the man that is stalker her. Parts of it (the note keeping bit) have made my skin crawl a couple of times.

I have a feeling that I will be finishing it tomorrow as I have a half day at work!

Kaz I used to be like that, now I can't remember the last time I read a magazine, other than flicking through the free Saturday one with the Mirror

I'm adding to this thread as I MUST tell you all about Daughter, by Jane Shemilt, that I got from the library. I usually borrow three at once and then re-lend them several times as I haven't got round to reading them all within the three weeks, but I read this one in a few days (very fast for me!) Completely unputdownable 8-)

I also got Dawn French's novel, A Tiny Bit Marvellous, also a good read, and am now on with Lesley Pearse's Charity. I generally enjoy her stories :)

It's possibly why I am spending less time online - you can find me in the conservatory with my nose in a book on these sunny days :D 8-)

Gal, Debih and I read Daughter and both threw it across the room at the end.

I hated it, the only one in the whole family I could tolerate was the dog

I've decided that apart from starting to read and realising I'm too tired to absorb anything, the main reason I've read so little lately is that I've been struggling so with the actual book
Yep, still 'Us'. I'm a fair way through, but don't give a toss about anyone! It's well written, but I don't care...
I hate giving up on a book, and I may go back to it, but for now I'm going to follow my own advice and go to something much lighter, chick-littish, just to (hopefully) get me back into it.

This must be the longest I've ever gone without reading a whole book since I learnt to read

Oh Di, give up on it! If you don't care about any of the characters, it doesn't matter how they fare, does it? :D

Go and immerse yourself in something light and frothy....I can recommend Lesley Pearse ;)

Thanks Gal, I do have a few different books on my kindle to choose from and as today's so miserable out I may well get started on one :)
Have made a note of Lesley Pearse and will have a look ;)
