This is just 5 minutes down the road from me... it's totally destroyed

A friend of mine works there and she is devastated. This is part of what she posted before heading over there to see what can be done:
"Managed to get a few painting out, but the 1640s tapestries are gone as well as hundreds of other priceless treasures. Burnt from basement to attic. Emma, who is the house manageress has lost everything. Salvation Army have taken her in. Many things were priceless, and much older than the 1720s house, as part of the collection came from the previous Tudor house. We've also lost the Royal Surrey Regiments Museum"


A piece of history lost that can not be recovered

I saw it on Facebook and then on the news :( :( Just dreadful, some things can never be replaced..... :cry:

How terrible as well, for that poor house manager :( Thank god nobody was hurt or worse! xxxxxxxxxxxx

Its awful isn't it but I echo Kaz, thank god no one was seriously hurt. It could have been much worse.

I read that the whole of the interior has been destroyed ..... how sad ....
