Last week the consultant in A&E indicated that the resolution to the broken scaphoid needed expediting and I was given a card informing me that I should receive some information within seven days.
The seven days was up, yesterday, with nothing heard so today I rang the number on the card.
It turns out that I am on the system and an initial appointment is made for the 17th of May - cue me taking off like a skyrocket, at least internally. I politely informed the young lady that I had been suffering for five months, that the NHS did not follow its own procedures when checking the original x-rays, that "expedite" meant to process with urgency, and so on. I also told her that as it was due to a road accident I would have to get in touch with my insurer's solicitors and would be asking them to look into the problem. That's when it got passed up the line....
About ten minutes later a manager phoned back. She was very apologetic and would be looking into why no follow-up had occurred, but in the meantime could I attend the clinic tomorrow at 10:05am to see Prof. M?
Telephones and solicitors are wonderful inventions.
