Well to be honest we don't see much of it as we make straight for Canterbury. We just like the Premier there best and travel in from there.

The new Premier Inn in Canterbury is very central but only has a few disabled parking spaces available. You would have to use public parking.

Whitstable is quite nice MM and has character and nice restaurants but don`t know about oysters in September, worth a visit though. Canterbury has lost some of its character but a lot still remains and is OK in the day apart from hordes of tourists. Definite no no at night.

Didn`t realise you would need disabled parking. Son stayed at Premier Inn and it was fine and near centre, public car park very near where I think disabled is free with a badge.

Shell, what about the other side of Kent? Years back mom and I had a long weekend there and we stayed in a beautiful place in Rye. The B&B we stayed in probably would be too far out but Rye itself was really lovely and won't be a busy town like Canterbury.

I have a friend who lives in Whitstable, I can ask him for accommodation recommendations if you want?

Rye is gorgeous, Mick and I had a fabulous weekend there in the Mermaid Inn a few years back :) I've also visited Rye when staying at Camber Sands which is very nearby and has a fabulous beach ;)

I think it's just over the Kent border into East Sussex :)

I was born and brought up in East Sussex and quite frankly apart from Rye (which is beautiful)
there is`nt really much going for it. Hastings (we had a pub there and the kids were born there)
is grotty. Bexhill is pretty but nothing much to do or see.
If you were to find somewhere near Canterbury you have numerous towns within a half hour
drive. Margate, Herne Bay, Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Folkestone to name a few. There is also
Dover from where you could have a day trip to Calais on the ferry :D :D :D
As you can tell i love Kent :D :D

It's lovely but I wish my daughter and her family didn't live there. It's too far for us to travel to.

I have been to Rye for the weekend and yes it is lovely, but as I have also visited Bexhill and Eastbourne both of which I loved, I would rather go somewhere I havent been before, i.e. Kent.

I have no idea where the disabled parking came from, I don't need disabled parking at all. :? :?

I don't like staying in a hotel so that is not a consideration regardless.

If you could ask your friend about Whitstable too Ria that would be great
