Kent anyone????

Postby miasmum » 19 Apr 2015, 19:36

I have started to think about where to go for our next few days away, probably not until September though. I quite fancy Kent as we have never been there. Tim hates the journey but for a few days it might be worth it.

I really fancy seeing Leeds and Hever Castle, Canterbury and Whitstable. But where to stay? Now please bear in mind I get in a total panic going out at night, even Chester was far too busy for me. But we do like somewhere with nice places to eat within walking distance So any suggestions?

Canterbury is really nice, was there for a couple of Femail meets when dear Peps was still with us.

Hope this helps Shell
Whitstable or Faversham are both quite small with plenty of eating places.
I live in Faversham and all the restaurants are quite close to each other.
I can`t recommend where to stay as i don`t know but there are Premier Inns
and Holiday Inns close.

like walking through Canterbury at night but during the day it is fabulous.

Thanks for that Lissie. Interestingly Whitstable was somewhere I had in mind to stay. I love a fishing village with a working harbour. Does Whitstable fit the bill? I wouldn't stay in Canterbury but have always wanted to visit. We would look for a self catering house or apartment. I don't like hotels.

Thanks x

I once had a few days at RAF Manston, Ramsgate area, and did not like it. It was a bit too 'Landarny' for me, everyone seemed a little bit "ooh" a little bit "aah"

However, one year when going to France there was one of those Lorry Park exercise on the M20 due to a 'bit of a do' at Dover docks. We were never going to get the ferry so we stopped off in Mersham and made our way on the back roads through Hythe the morning after. Very pretty countryside, but not sure about it as a holiday destination.

We always stay at the Premier at Whitstable when we visit the family in Canterbury. In fact we are going there next weekend. There is a Premier actually in Canterbury now I believe although parking might be a problem.

So what are your thoughts on Whitstable Rodo? Not the hotels, I wouldn't stay in a hotel, but the town itself
