Cooker repair

Postby cruiser2 » 13 Apr 2015, 12:02

We have a double electric oven.
In the top oven, the heating element and the top plate have become lose.
Have contacted Neff who quoted a call out charge of over 370.00. Any parts and extra time would be an extra charge.
So this morning went to a local company who sell spares for domestic appliances. Was there when they opened at 9.00 a.m. They said they would come and have a look with a call out charge of £10.00. This would be deducted if any parts were needed.
He said ours would be the first call as he would be passing to go to another customer. Came at 9.40 and fitted a new screw to hold the heating element and panel in place. No extra charge.
Another satisfied customer
We were thinking we would have to buy a new cooker

I do wonder sometimes about some of these "service" departments of big companies

Mick is putting in our new oven as I type  It stopped working a couple of days before we went to Cyprus - M thought it was the element, so ordered one to be delivered a day or two after we got back, but that wasn't it! So we've had to buy a new one. The old one which had been in since the house was new was a Smeg, very expensive, so we've got a look-alike Indesit for half the price :geek: ;)
