Big fat flakes

Postby debih » 25 Jan 2013, 20:18

That's whats coming out of the sky - again.

I've been in the bath for about half an hour. I took Millie out just before I went in and there was just a sprinkling on the road. I've just got out of the bath and let her out again (she can wee for England at the moment) and there must be almost an inch now. And its still coming, thick and fast.

It was forecast to start at about 3pm here and get very heavy by 6pm before stopping at around midnight and turning to rain.

But although we had a couple of flurries it didn't really get started until just before 6pm so I suppose now is the heavy stuff we were forecast.

The road has been passable all day but fortunately I left my car down the hill so we should be able to get out and about tomorrow.

They've forecast 2-5 cms for Birmingham but whilst it's been "spitting" here, we haven't had any snow - yet - although my S on the other side of the City says it's snowing there ....

I've been walking into work every day this week - and this morning the pavements here were lethal, there had been a partial thaw and refreeze on Thursday night. It was actually safer to walk in the road(which is now clear) and defy the oncoming traffic!!

Big flat flakes here as well, falling on the already lethal pavements. We have white roads too, tomorrow's rush hour should be fun. :(

It's raining here - never thought I'd be glad to see a downpour, but that means it won't be cold enough either to freeze or to snow :!:

The thaw was always forecast to start over here first, so hang in there folks, it's on its way 8-)

We've had another heavy fall of snow but it seems to have slowed down now. We took Billy over the common an hour ago and it's still very deep over there.

We've had 5 inches come down since 6pm.

And I know that it is 5 inches as I have just shoved a ruler in it - just outside the front door. The area that yesterday I cleared completely and gritted.

And there is no sign of it easing up. :( :( :(

There's an inch fallen here since teatime but nothing's really moved from the last week so when we went over the common it was still coming near to the top of my boots so it's about 7"/8"deep over there :?
