No, it is because your gut has to be empty if you might need general anaesthetic. The last thing the Doc's want is a patient going through reflux during an operation. That really could cause problems.

Michael will hopefully not need a serious op, but better to be safe than sorry.

I was just thinking that it's a long time for a little boy to wait, without pain relief.

When they were sticking 7 screws and a plate in my ankle, I was awake - they'd swiped my back and leg with something that deadened all feeling, for hours.

My youngest grandson broke the same leg 3 times between
