Blimey. Mercedes are still 1 second a lap faster than the rest!

Nice to see Ferrari are showing a bit more pace but McClaren! What's going on there?

Lord know, but not looking like Teflonso made a good choice. Bet Kevin Magnusson is glad he only has to drive it once

Decisions, decisions. Do I get up and stream it live at 5am or do I wait for the BBC's inadequate highlights?

I am hoping that my boys at Williams, Felipe and Valtteri, can do a spoiler.

Rubbish coverage from the BBC. Fifty minutes of highlights from an 88 minute race. Fifteen minutes of fluff at the beginning and 20 minutes of analysis at the end.

I am so glad that I did not get up early to watch it live. :roll:

That's what turns me off so much top level sport these days, the amount of hype, drum banging and talking about it.

As a race it pretty much confirmed what everyone thought, that Mercedes are streets ahead still.

Poor Raikkonen! That was unlucky. Nice to see Sauber doing better though.

I did a great long reply to this and then it dropped the server and lost it.

Basically I said I was thrilled for Sauber, we know it won't last but after last years horrendous season, I'm chuffed to pieces for them. I am also glad that Felippe Nasr is a good driver. It makes the fact they did what they did to Van Der Garde a bit more palatable. At least they didn't take Nasr purely for his money, the bloke can drive. I hate that sort of thing and is so anti Sauber, but they had to do it to survive and I suppose I would rather see Sauber on the grid than not.

I also said Jenson Button and George Roper, separated at birth

Oh and did they mention that Max Verstappen is the youngest driver ever??????????? Nice to see Jos is a sulky as ever

A good start but some more cars would have been better

Bernie Ecclestone has being quoted as saying that perhaps there should be some measure of "engine equalisation" in F1, to avoid another Mercedes procession this year.

Putting aside the fact that this seems to be a response to Red Bull saying they (and their mega millions) might walk away from F1 soon, what shape could this "equalisation" take?

A piano strapped to the Merc's rear wing?

Hamilton and Rosberg having to tow a caravan each?

I can see the intention behind these thoughts, to avoid another procession but if you do aren't you punishing Mercedes for doing the best job? Not to mention all the money they have spent developing the car.

There needs to be a spending cap so that money does not decide the outcome.

After that the engineers need to be allowed to produce the fastest cars they can, and drivers need to be allowed to drive flat out, or as they see fit as the race develops.

The cars should need to fit in a box, and not much else, except aero, it has to be made less important. There should be no such things as: Tyre strategy; fuel saving; DRS; shore-to-ship-to shore communications, only ship to shore should be allowed.

Give the drivers what they need to finish a race and let them get on with things.
