Just for a bit of amusement

Postby Suff » 12 Mar 2015, 17:29

I have bought one of these...

I'll get it within 6 weeks which is about enough time for the Apple Watch which it is ripping off to ship.

Should be mildly amusing... Mine cost £28 delivered to France.

Well yes and no. I don't usually follow the cutting edge. But in this case I'll make an exception. It is a clear rip off of the "Apple Watch" right down to the front menu. It looks like it but it has longer battery life and works with Android phones. Supposed to have 160 hours standby time which is almost the same as the Pebble Time.

I just want to wear it to work and see if people notice.... Plus it will actually have a few uses for me.

Do you have to have an android phone for it to work Suff?

I know a 14 year old girl who would rather like one of those for her birthday (if it is any good that is) but she has an iphone.

I've answered my own question by reading the description properly.

It works with a Samsung.

Shame as she loves her iphone and I know she wont be in a rush to swap it.

Still be interested to know what you think of it though when you've given it a test drive.

Debih, if you go to the left hand panel and click on Bluetooth Watch there is one called the Uwatch that claims to work with IOS (Apple) phones.

My smart titanium watch tells me the time in hours, minutes and seconds.... it's all I need. ;)

Hi Debih,

Looking through the decsriptions and FAQ, it does work with the iPhone but only the time, the Pedometer and the distance warning work with an iPhone. The rest of the apps work with Android.

I'm guessing that if they made it work with the iPhone then they would be sued off the planet.

Delivery is 15-35 days, experience shows that from China it's likely to take 20 - 35 days so I'm not waiting with baited breath. I expect it will be one of these part finished things which sort of does the work. But so long as it tells the time, warns me when I get a text or a mail and warns me when I've left the phone lying on a desk (constant problem), I'll be reasonably happy with it.

It's more of a gimmick for me and at the price, not very expensive to buy and play with. I'll let you know how I get on.

My other watches are Timex (battery expired and strap broken), Casio which now has a broken winder and a cracked glass and a cheap Lorus which I'm using today.

Yes that was part of the fun with the watch. The reactions of the Fanboiz.

At work we have a whole load of guys who rushed out and spent, on average, £300 per person to be the first to get an iPhone6. Then they go around all day saying "If you had one of these your phone would be a lot faster". My phone is a quad core 1.6ghz, it's 3 years old (design wise) and I'm not upgrading (again), because the model changes are too much in flux. BUT, when I do, my phone will be faster, more memory, more storage and more capable generally than the Apple's out today.

I have a friend who went heavily Apple about the time of the iPhone. Now he tells me it's "time to end my love affair with all things Apple". He, admittedly stupidly, upgraded his iPad2 to iOS8. He tells me it is now virtually impossible to use and he can't go back without doing things he doesn't want to play with. The reality of the Apple world, if you are riding the wave it's fantastic. Step off the wave and watch your world descend into obscurity. All those iPhone6 users seem to have forgotten that the iPhone4 simply can't cope with today's apps, let alone slowly.

Anyway, if the watch even does 20% of what it promises, I'll have my money's worth. If it doesn't? I'll have spent less than £30 to make that mistake. Apple fans, on the other hand, will have to pay around £300 to make the same decision. Interesting though. I wonder what makes the Apple Watch so much more expensive? Is it the magnetic charger? Or is it the unobtanium they are made from? Or is it just Apple?
