but I do feel uncomfortable when she is paying extra to make my tip up to the 10% and she always always insists on 10% regardless of the service. Once when the service was so bad, I let her leave the 10% then as we left I darted back and reclaimed it from the table and gave her it back. She was not happy but I just couldn't let her do that

Its just silly in my opinion.

I agree with Kaz. That's her choice and she's entitled to her choice but that doesn't mean you have to.

It was also her choice to tip, even though the service was bad.

Her money - her choice. Your money - your choice.

but my money was part of the tip on that night, as if I refuse she just leaves the whole 10% and felt too bad to allow her to do that. Which was why I nipped back and reclaimed it. There was nobody there, they'd all gone home   The cleaners would have probably had it in the morning ;) ;) although to be fair the cleaners are probably on a minimum wage and deserve it

So I just tell her I am not happy to tip more than £3.00 and my share of that is £1.50 if you want to tip more that is your choice?

Do you think that sounds fair?

For two people having a light meal, perfectly fair, you pay what you think is right and she does the same.

Yes MM I think it's very fair.

If she wants to leave more, let her. That's her choice.
