My first thought was that the farm was breaking the law, even though it says it is trying to help its customers. France is hardly local to northern Surrey. Then the mention of a supplier also raised questions about the local aspect. Chapel Farm might be local, but its eggs could come from anywhere.

I also wondered about the eggs being organic and when I looked to see what the term actually means it mainly comes down to feed, the limited use of antibiotics and the birds not being caged. However, some higher end free range birds have a similar life and though they are not producing organic eggs they are not far off.

The farm I use to buy eggs certainly has them free ranging, they are all over the road and the paddock. As the farm is mainly a sheep farm and the flock of hens a side-line I do not expect them to be fed on commercial hen food. I suspect it is grain, bran, and whatever bugs, grubs and worms the birds can find when scratting about. What I do know is that the eggs taste wonderful.

Well they are Asda SmartPrice. Perhaps they're cow's eggs from Swaziland ....
