Chester, anyone familiar?

Tim and I are thinking of a weekend away end of March. Wondering about Chester, but you all know what a wuss I am. Not sure it won't be too busy and scary at night for me

Any thoughts?

I worked there a few times and was never worried by the night life - there wasn't any.

It covers every age imaginable from Roman, Medieval, Tudor through to Victorian, and there are some stunning examples of architecture from the whole of history. A walk round the walls of the medieval part of the city is a bit of a must.

The part of the city within the walls is quite small and you can amble about to your heart's content. Nowhere is very far away. A walk through the park and down along the river is another pleasant way to pass the time.

I was usually put up in The Queens, near the station. I have no idea when it was built, but there wasn't a level floor or straight upright in the whole place. I loved it.

I've only ever been to the zoo, but the city itself is somewhere I'd like to visit.

Had an Uncle who lived at Upton which is on the north side of the city. Lots to do and see including the zoo.
There have been many changes since I first went when I was a teenager but we still like going. For shopping there is Cheshire Oaks near Ellesmere Port. only a few miles away.

Only been there once. Stayed in a B&B. Can't remember much about it, good or bad,
except going to the races, which was quite enjoyable.

Thank you, have booked an apartment. Had to haggle the chancer down from £109 per night to £90. On Owners Direct it said the rate was £79 per night. Apparently that is only a guide???? Yeah right.

I know. It said £79 per night then underneath 'this price is for week nights, weekends may be dearer' What £30 per night dearer I don't think so. So then he offered me £99 so I said my budget was £80 and he came down to £90 which as he said is £10 extra for me and £19 less for him. To be fair the hotels were similar prices. I suppose that is cities for you.
