I know how you feel Aggers. However you could think of it this way. The Samsung is just a computer where someone else decided what you can do. The laptop is a computer where you decide what you want to do.

However if you've lost confidence then I do understand your position.

One of the greatest and most unsung benefits of the PC revolution is that people regain control of what they want and are no longer hostage to what companies want to give them. It's something the younger generation love. Limitless options and they are willing to put the time into making it happen. They just didn't grow up with such a limited choice that we did, in many cases take it or leave it.

One classic example of that is my home TV/Media situation. To get total control over the sound I would have to buy a massively expensive consumer device which can take the output of my 3 machines and massage the sound to the 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system. Starting cost for that would be around £2,000 and upwards. Instead I have a PC gaming speaker system (Logitech Z906 500 watts RMS), connected to the TV via an optical cable. Almost all the power of the consumer unit for £230.... I know this because my brother has, quite literally, spent tens of thousands of pounds on his TV sound systems.

So it's always worth looking at the options even if you are not sure that it will do what you want.

Well, I've had 2 or 3 hours at it this afternoon, and after the first session
I was quite pleased with the results. Then I found that when I attempted
to add a further section it was added to the beginning of my programme
as a new recording session instead of at the end. It seems I shall have to
either complete the whole programme at one sitting, or record the last
section first, and so on. I shall get there, but it will take a bit of time.

You could, of course, check it on the PC and move the second session to the first. So long as you can see how it structures it. That would be way faster and allow you the flexibility to do it in as many sittings as you wanted.

Just a thought.

Thanks, Suff.

I'll look into that possibility. I found out that I can delete entries in the USB device on my
laptop, and give recordings the song title rather than just a number, then the title shows
up on my CD player's screen, which is most useful.

NP,

So, perhaps, for now, a hybrid approach will work where you create with the simple device and edit with the Laptop?

Although there should be tools out there which can do all of this for you in one step. But small steps and slowly if you are not comfortable.
