I agree with Kate. I have suffered twice with cancer, once in 1980, and again in 2000. The illness and disabilities I have now were caused by strictures/adhesions that were the result of radiotherapy and radium implants I had in 1980. The adverts really depress me although I do understand the other point of view and the need for the public to be informed.

Thank you WM, at the moment I am not feeling too bad, but I will never "recover", and it's condition I have to live with, so always a wheelchair user, and ithe strictures won't go away.(I wish they would!)

My very best friend of 55 years who I see every single day, we live opposite each other and met at college, has just been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Every morning I wake up and think I've had a dream. I just can't take it in.

Maybe if the warnings about smoking had included getting this disease she might, just might, have taken more notice.

After never having been ill for her whole life now she's been given 6 months.

I'm in complete bits.

Terrible, absolutely terrible news Md, and it contains something that frightens so many of us with regards cancer.

I am sure many of us know, or know of, someone who was pootling along quite happily, then they get the diagnosis and in no time are gone. I have often wondered if that stops so many people dealing with possible symptoms when they first appear.

You are a darling Saundra. Posters are correct I do agree Prostate cancer has had too little coverage and it is important for men to check themselves. And women. By doing so that's how I discovered I had breast cancer. It is just that one is confronted with the word Cancer in newspapers, magazines, and in the media in general.
