I think you're right Kaz.
When we were that sort of age it's odd that a lot of us were going into pubs from 15 or 16, yet never getting properly drunk (well, almost never!).
Partly we couldn't afford it, partly the licensing hours, and also it wasn't generally acceptable to drink at home, so the only drinking was done at pubs or parties.

There's a lot in that Di, the culture around drinking is totally different now :? They meet up at a friend's house, pre-load (as they call it) then go out pretty drunk already and drink cheap shots :o :?

We went out to meet friends and have a laugh, that involved drink but wasn't the object of the evening - now the object is to get as drunk as possible :?
