Gorgeous all day bar being really cold and a biting wind.....got in from work, had a cuppa, peeped out the window.....snowing like billyo and very fast!

Now we have about 4" but it has eased for now...wind has dropped and the sky is clear....so low temps mean ice tomorrow :|

The weather has gone crazy lately. You don't know what to expect.

I had a quick look round the garden this afternoon, and was surprised
to see that the carnation plants had flower buds ready to open.

Let me say - as much as I adore/love/truly appreciative our lovely almost non stop sunshine; the one thing I do miss are the seasons.

We go from a very long, long hot summer to a very short winter, a rapid spring and then back into summer.

My favourite season was always Autumn...non existent here.

The 'weather' isn't talked about over here as there isn't really much to talk about. :?

I am absolutely not moaning about this...just saying it's nice to read about different aspects of the weather..even if it's not that great for you over there. :? xx

Our threatened snow storm has resulted in a slight covering of snow on the lane.

Two disappointed girls currently getting ready for school.

We have snow showers forecast for the day though when you look at the weather map it looks like we will miss most of it.

No snow here, but then it's rare down here in the SW ;)

Ally I think I'd be the same - I love the sunshine but would miss Spring and Autumn, if not the winter ;)

Because we're slightly further west, and on the Atlantic, we get definate seasons.

Our winters are shorter, summers are longer, but we do get a short spring and autumn. The blossom on the trees is stunning at the moment and the wild flowers are popping up too. The field opposite is full of yellow and white flowers, with poppies just making an appearance :D

Our seasons, here in England, seem to be all mixed up lately.

The plants in the garden don't seem to know what they are supposed to be doing.

And I don't know what to wear most of the time.

Do you remember this poem?......

January brings the snow,
makes our feet and fingers glow.

February brings the rain,
Thaws the frozen lake again.

March brings breezes loud and shrill,
stirs the dancing daffodil.

April brings the primrose sweet,
Scatters daises at our feet.

May brings flocks of pretty lambs,
Skipping by their fleecy damns.

June brings tulips, lilies, roses,
Fills the children's hand with posies.

Hot july brings cooling showers,
Apricots and gillyflowers.

August brings the sheaves of corn,
Then the harvest home is borne.

Warm september brings the fruit,
Sportsmen then begin to shoot.

Fresh October brings the pheasents,
Then to gather nuts is pleasent.

Dull November brings the blast,
Then the leaves are whirling fast.

Chill December brings the sleet,
Blazing fire, and Christmas treat.
