What a result!

God I forgot how much I hate painting! One wall done so far - the orange one. The other 3 are magnolia and one of them is really easy as the built in wardrobes take up most of it. Another has 3 windows on (thankfully the gloss work and, my pet hate, the radiator are staying as they are until the Spring and then I am intending on paying someone to do the windows and hoping that we will be replacing the radiator with a nice white one that doesn't need painting. Only 1 wall is a straight flat wall. I have stopped for lunch and then hoping to at least get the wardrobe wall and the big flat wall done this afternoon.

The skirting board is waxed pine so doesn't need glossing and although I was going to paint the cornice I am now doing the bare minimum - she has annoyed me so much with her attitude this weekend she is lucky that she is getting it done at all!!!

I shared a room with my sister until I was around 12 - we were a 2 bedroom bungalow. Then we had an extension built and my sister got the new, smaller room. We had the swirly orange and brown carpet and orange wallpaper with gold circles on it.

I remember that most of our carpets didn't actually fit the room properly - we must have always had offcuts.

It's a horrible job isn't it We've got a lot of painting to do this year We've not done anything since we moved in - four years ago this Wednesday!! - and while a lot of it still looks good there are places that need a freshen up now.

I'm currently tearing my hair out on Ikea's website, making us a shopping list for tonight

yup, same here. And hence the reason that as and when I can afford it I'm going to pay someone to paint my flat. If I do it myself it won't ever get done

I bought paints and brushes and rollers and other bits and bobs and they are still piled up behind a bedroom chair.

The only part that ever got done was the hallway/landing and even then the skirting was left as it was - scuffed and chipped.

Now, I love painting, although I haven't done any since we moved into
our new retirement apartment three years ago.

My method is to do just one wall at a time - it makes it so much easier.
In my younger days I was a dab hand at wall and ceiling papering, too.
