I feel exactly the same if I happen to pass any house I used to live in. It's strange, isn't it?
It must be because you subconsciously transfer all the emotions regarding your home to your new one.

That's an interesting way of looking at it, Aggers, hadn't thought of it like that.

I must admit that I never intended to move from our old house, I loved the house and the closeness to the town centre, schools etc plus it contained so many memories but I fell in love at first sight with this one and still thought I'd be a wreck when the time came to leave but I closed the door and never gave it another thought. We drive past now and my only thoughts are that I'm glad I've not got to deal with the unfelted roof and the icy cold rooms in Winter, plus there's been a large health centre with a multi practice GP surgery, pharmacy, a cafe and assisted living facility (65 flats in all I think) built opposite and the road to it has been put in directly opposite our old house and it looks like it could get rather busy!

Lol Jo, we are the same - no more east wind howling against the front of the house making it so hard to heat, Mr Osc loves not having to cut the grass or spend three days cutting the hedges, or painting nine doors, etc. etc. He noticed the other day that some slates came loose on the roof during the recent high winds and he doesn't have to worry about them, with an old house there is always something to be done and although our new house is an old building, everything is new :D :D

I agree with Aggers, it's the emotional investment that makes a house a home and you can take that with you wherever you go :) 8-)

Home is where my Pillow is. That's always been my theory though my fairly nomadic adult life. A house becomes a home when when you bring your memories with you, and put them on a shelf.
Hope the move all goes well for you Osc
