Whilst I think they are being significantly disingenuous with their "shock" at the response to the questions on the survey which, to me, look a little too pat, there is a large measure of truth in the later statements.

We bend over backwards for the thin skinned, bigoted, others, but we do little or nothing for the thick skinned silent types. Which annoys me a lot.

Ask the right questions and you will get the answers you want. That appears to be the case with these polls.

Just because 25% thought “Jews chase money more than other people” or that 20% said “Jews’ loyalty to Israel makes them less loyal to Britain than other Britons” does not mean that they go out attacking Jews of burning down Synagogues. We also need to know what other options the respondents had.

I watched the Charlie Hebdo end games unfold on Sky and the BBC simultaneously and no opportunity was missed to inform us that the supermarket was a Kosher (Jewish) supermarket. There seems to be a sense of victim-hood by the writer. Jews in the UK are about as safe as anywhere on the planet. Things might be different in France, but France has the largest Muslim population in Europe. Is there any link between that and the number of antisemitic attacks in France?

The number of antisemitic attacks in the UK last year was highest recorded in the past three decades. The Community Security Trust, which records attacks on the Jewish community in the UK, found there had been a 36% rise in the total number of antisemitic incidents, including violent crime and vandalism, to 304 between January and June. That was followed by 130 incidents in July alone, which coincided with the Israeli military offensive in Gaza.

Yep Ossie. What would be useful to know is the demographics of the rise in attacks on Jews. Because, as WM says, this could quite literally be totally Islamic and strongly immigrant.

Something they are unlikely to ever tell us. Then again, it's something vital to know.

I've known this for a while, but it's crystallising in my thoughts, that Islam is the most bigoted, supremacist, condescending and intolerant religion on the planet.

So why are we so accommodating of it?

Also so much is made of the 1.5 Billion Moslems on the planet. They prattle about this all the time. Yet there are 7bn people on this planet of whom 2bn are Christians. Fortunately for Moslems, Christianity is "supposed" to be about tolerance and getting along. Although most of modern Christianity is offended my many of the Islamic practises.

I'm pretty certain that Jews are fairly safe in the UK. Their biggest threat comes from Moslem extremists rather than white Skinheads...

On the other hand the Times says Jews are coming to the UK from France because it's safer.

So Anti Semitism is relative. I came across this in Belgium back in the 90's where we in Britain were being told we had to bend over and hand the Vaseline because we were such a bunch of racists. Whilst in Belgium all the black Congolese were trying to get into the UK because we were so much more tolerant than the Belgians......

I do think we are far more tolerant here than a lot of Europe. My German cousin was surprised that my sister and her husband (he is mixed race but looks black) get so little hassle here. In fact no hassle, the only hassle they've ever had has actually been in the US, where mostly it was from black people asking my BIL why he was with a white woman

After every terrorist attack by Islamists there is always a feverish hunt by the left wingers to find examples of violence and intolerance by other cultures; so it's no surprise to see the "far right" being touted as the bogeymen by liberals.

Yes the far right are anti-semites. But as the far right in this country consists of two men and a dog I know who I think is responsible for the rise in anti-Semitic attacks.

I had a thought. The Jews have been a viable whipping boy for the far right for so long that everyone just thinks it's about being different and exclusive. After all it was early Christians who created the greatest trouble for the Jews. After all they "killed our saviour" was such a handy saying in medieval times wasn't it. Pity they never finished the sentence "who was a Jew"....

However, there's another threat for the far right now. It's Islam. They won't integrate. They horde money. They take over every branch of everything they can and use nepotism to keep the "Infidels" out. Not only that but they're loud mouthed, bad mouth our laws and think they can just do whatever they want and when they're called on it they can just "use the race card" to get out of it.

The far right is way more concerned about Islam, today, than the Jews.

OK people are going to say that Jews are tight about money. Why would they not be? They are traders and businessmen by history and also engineers and geniuses out of proportion to their number in the community. Jews pay for everything different that they do. When was the last time you heard of a Jew insisting that supermarkets produced Kosher (same as Halal), meat? They just go to their own butchers and pay the price. As for Jewish pride and their allegiance to Israel? Why not? I'm sure we now have at least 16M immigrants with a strong allegiance to another country over their allegiance to the UK. It took 2,000 years for them to get Israel back, why would they not be proud of it and why would they not want to support it? Especially given how the rest of the world has treated tem over the last 2,000 years.

Given the level of Jewish influence on my family, I believe I know them reasonably well. At least I've done some digging and looking.

The press and their surveys sometimes drive me to "bad words". Designed to find a result. OK everyone hates Islam right now because they condone murder, let's find out we're also bad for hating the Jews.

We're not bad. We're actually pretty good people when all is said and done.

I see from the news that the truth about anti-semitism is emerging. In addition to making themselves safe the police are to step up security and patrols in Jewish areas.

Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley revealed chief constables around the country are looking again at how to prevent attacks against those seen as targets for Islamic extremists.

"The global picture of terrorist activity does give us heightened concern about the risk to the Jewish community in the UK."

It is hard for the media to twist things, as it did with the survey the other day, when quoting the UK's top cop.

I can't say the same about some other groups, who shall be nameless.
