Does anyone here have one of these window steam cleaners?

Postby meriad » 16 Jan 2015, 09:24

if yes, are they any good and worth their price?

I really need to clean my windows more regularly but it's such a faff so it's a job that gets put off time and time again. Given there aren't that many windows and they're all ground level it isn't even a difficult job to do, but just one I for some reason procrastinate with.

Looking at the TV ad of the steam cleaners they seem quite quick and easy to use with minimum fuss / driping etc, but I somewhere in the back of my mind recall someone saying that there is more to it than what the ad depicts?

So as always - when in doubt - ask here!

 I've ummed and arred about getting one for ages as I've heard good things. I do really fancy one, our window cleaner got so unreliable that Mick 'sacked' him and now we don't have one :? I do indoors and the outside ground floor (including those big patio doors we have!), Mick keeps saying he'll climb a ladder to do the first floor outside but never gets round to it, so I should probably get one

As an aside I did run out of spray cleaner before Christmas and did mine with newspaper, wetted a little under the hot tap, and they came up beautifully - it was a bit messy though, my hands were black as were the cuffs of my jumper as I forgot to roll them back

I usually use a spray with a window squeegy thing (similar to this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Visa-Versa-Sque ... B001AS86TI )

As said it's quick and easy enough to do; I'm just being super lazy - if the window steamer works really well then I'd be tempted to invest in one at some point :D

But for now - spray and squeegy it'll be; the bedroom window esp is rather grim

The mop thingy didn't dry the Windows
Do you have a steam cleaner for your floors
Use mine on the Windows but prefer newspapers And a window spray

Me too Ally, I love cleaning the windows and don't mind doing the ironing either - I can see the TV in the kitchen from the utility room or I just listen to my iPod. Job's soon done.

I sacked ours too. We started off with a young lad who'd started his own business, he had the uniform, the logo on the van etc and did a great job. Then he decided he was going to university so sold the business onto another young lad (who seemed a bit like a spoiled rich kid whose Daddy had set him up in business going by his website). His cleaners came about three times before another letter came through the door saying that he was passing us onto another company as he was starting up a social media marketing business. They came twice before increasing the price by 50%...so I sacked them.

I got a Karcher a few months ago - and this from someone who rarely does gadgets!!

I love mine - the dogs smush their noses up against the patio doors from the conservatory side, and we can see the nose marks....a few seconds with the Karcher and they've gone, no streaks or smears...it also cleans and dries the shower after use, although have to say I only use it on bathroom cleaning days, not after every use.

It's not so much the cleaner that's the boon as the fact that it literally takes seconds to sweep the drier over the glass, and no smears :)

Gal, that's what I like about the Karcher too....the speed in which it dries the glass and the fact that there are no smears.
