Are you ready?

Postby debih » 23 Dec 2014, 14:48

I am done - well, about done.

I've just made a lasagne for tomorrow night and hoovered upstairs (I got bored of doing nothing).

Tomorrow I need to get stuff out the freezer, bake the ham and make sausage rolls (my sister and Roy are dropping my mum off sometime tomorrow and staying a while). Downstairs needs hoovering (Micks job) and the beds upstairs need sorting ready for my mum (girls job).

Only two things left to get - both Micks responsibility!

I decided to get vouchers from their favourite pub restaurant for his parents. He drives past it most days. He still hasn't been and got them yet.

His other job was getting two pork pies. One for us and one for me to take to our friends on Boxing Day. A local butcher supplies them to one of the pubs in the village and I asked him to order them from the pub so he or the girls could walk down to collect them tomorrow morning. He hasn't. He says he's going to the butchers for them tomorrow. I can't be bothered to tell him that last time I ordered the meat from there to be collected on Xmas Eve I stood in a queue (mainly outside in the pouring rain) for well over 90 minutes. And he hasn't been in to order them...... Sigh.

I'm just about done, we've got a few cards to drop off tonight over Walsall way and I still need to walk around the close with the cards for neighbours. I'm expecting a call from my Mom too to say that there are some presents to collect as two of my aunts are visiting her this afternoon.

Tomorrow the turkey will start to defrost and I'll cook the ham, make sausage rolls and cheese straws and have a general clean up/tidy up (again). John hopefully finishes work at lunchtime - really pointless them going in on Christmas Eve as a lot of the companies that they deal with are all finished for Christmas - but I've no hope of him helping as he's planning on going for a bike ride when he gets home. Can't grumble though as he's just texted me a photo of a biiiig bottle of Bacardi that's sitting on his desk waiting to come to a good home, a gift from a customer :D

Chippy tea tomorrow night and then John, Joe and myself are off to the pub/hotel just down the lane next to the estate. No idea what Tom's doing but he's working until 6. Once we're back home, and I've scaled the mince pie mountain, I'll put the presents under the tree. Can't do it yet as we've got a nosey dog

The plan was that I wouldn't need to go near the shops tomorrow but I've ordered a couple of jumpers out of the Asda sale that I've had my eye on in store for a while now and they may be available to collect after 5 tomorrow.

I'm more or less ready and was bored today as well because I'm so well prepared. I wasn't bored enough to hoover though Debih. Tomorrow is the busy busy day.

Debbie, she's been dropping very strong hints about Christmas Day to both John and myself. She's supposedly going to her sister's inlaws but isn't happy about it as they're too religious for her liking and she says that she can stand an hour of them but not a whole day. Tough innit :x

I've got my parents here for dinner and it's a squeeze to get six around the table so there's no way I could fit another body in even if she was tiny but, I'm being polite here, she's no skinny Minnie :o

We haven't had much to prepare as we are going to my sister for our Christmas dinner. This year we all made an effort to not buy masses of presents, so I did the wrapping last night and it didn't take very long. Mr Osc has had a ham simmering in the slow cooker since this morning which smells lovely and we are having some for dinner today. Tomorrow we will go into town for a potter around and a look at the lights on Grafton Street, we don't venture to the posh side of town too often ;) 8-) Then if we don't eat out, there will be plenty of ham left for us when we get home.

Well aside from the wrapping - which I will do tonight whilst watching Holby - and mopping the downstairs floors I am ready!!! :D B did the hoovering that I asked her to do while I was out today (buying carrots, how could I forget carrots!!) and will do 'her' bathroom before bed tonight ;)

Tomorrow I only have to mop the kitchen and hall floors (no point today as it was tipping down and the dogs would tread mud in) and ice my cake. I am still spiking that with malt whisky at the moment  ;) I will cook the gammon joint tomorrow some time, after Mick has given the oven a good scrub. That's his job and I leave him to it   Quiche, jackets and salad for dinner tomorrow, nice and easy :) ;)

I've left steaming the kitchen floor today too Kaz, it's rained on and off this afternoon but tomorrow is forecast to be dry so there's less chance of doggy paw prints reappearing five minutes later
