If it were left to him his family would never get xmas or birthday presents. He just assumes I will get them - he never asks if I will/have or gives me any suggestions of what to get.

Bah humbug.

I get all Birthday and Christmas presents....including my own. I just leave whatever I've got for myself in his chest of drawers for him to wrap.

To be fair to Mick he does usually at least try to buy my pressies!  A couple of times I've told him I've seen something and he'll get that, once I chose a bag and used the joint card and told him what he'd bought me   However, this year he's being mysterious and sneaked out this afternoon for an hour  ;) :D

I hope it isn't a Wok again  The Great Wok Incident of 2004 almost caused divorce in the first month of marriage   :x

He did go out once and buy a present for me, and he was so proud of himself. He said that it was to do with something I'd mentioned that I liked months previous. He was actually proud of himself on two counts - for buying me a surprise and for actually listening and remembering something I'd said

It turned out to be a telescope, because I'd mentioned that I loved to see a starry sky. A lovely idea but the boys were 4 and 1 and at night I didn't have the energy or brainpower left to spend a while fiddling about with settings and it ended up in the corner of the bedroom with bags hanging off it :o

I am thrilled to bits as I have found out T has bought me a little something (totally unexpected!), and he's even wrapped it himself! 8-)

Even if whatever it is is awful - I will love it purely for the above :) Awwwww

Mine isn't too bad.

He puts all the decorations and tree up, I never have.

We went shopping together for some presents but ended up not buying very much and I got most things on the internet, however, he did spend the day today shopping for a few odds and ends and he will wrap those ones himself.

My two, who are now grown up, still manage to get up rather early on Christmas morning, particularly the youngest……..who is 25!! They open their stockings which are outside on the landing, (yup, they still like a stocking) then they know not to come and waken us until a reasonable time, usually around 8 o'clock nowadays, but they are not allowed into the living room, where all the pressies are, until their dad has had his shower and got dressed   They hate that bit but he has made them wait since they were toddlers    Cruel Daddy!!

He has even offered to do the meal this year so I will let him get on with it :D though we will probably prepare the veg the night before.

Food shopping is being delivered this year again as I hate, hate, hate, supermarket shopping just before Christmas. I have just been to Morrisons tonight, late, and it was deserted...that is my kind of shopping :D The family descend tomorrow so I had to get stocks in.

He never writes Christmas cards though but he did buy some stamps and posted some of them!!

Good heavens Molly - your adult kids get up early still on Christmas morning???

I can't remember the last time J was up first - maybe about 10 plus years ago? It's a vey different Christmas now to what it used to be, kids excitedly waking parents to say "He's been!!" and pestering to come downstairs....nowadays it's the adults who are up first and then we have to wait till the 'kids' are up so we can open our gifts altogether :| LOL

Your H does sound a good'un!!! :)

Aww Gal I can understand that :)

Bb's not bad. I write the cards and he writes the envelopes.
When the boys were younger we'd go out together and find things, but now they're older he trawls websites for cool t-shirts, Dvds and Cds, although I still put my ideas in - last year we got eldest Nirvana because I thought he should have it ;)
We do decide together on his mum's present, his dad always gets liquorice allsorts :D No point spending more, he doesn't want anything - probably including liquorice allsorts :D
We wrap together.
We do the decorations kind of together, although I do the tree and 'arranging' of the bits around the room, but he does the ribbons for hanging up the cards and attaches them.
Also he will happily help with making of eg biscuits/sausage rolls/whatever.

We're both as bad as each other about buying presents for us. We have a strict budget, and try to give out ideas as to what we may like. This year, as last, I spotted something in amazon's black Friday week's deals, said, would you like to buy me that - 5 minutes' decision time, done (as far as I know!) - but of course I've forgotten what it was and it will be a lovely surprise ;) 8-)

Gal that's lovely! :) :D

Molly it sounds a lot of fun at your house :D Like Gal I find either myself or Mick are up first these days - we had some fabulous Christmasses when my two youngest were little, being woken at 5am or earlier with them jumping on the bed, stockings in tow :) :) These days they don't stir until I waft the smell of bacon and croissants up the stairs at about 9ish

I want Grandchildren to spoil!!! :o
