Snow watch

I think on snow days you accept school isn't going to run as normal, and all staff report to their nearest school. Parents that want to keep their children off can do so, but those that don't can send them to school, where there will be staff to supervise.

It infuriates me that all my Facebook friends from the school I used to work at are already saying "hurrah, looks like a snow day on Monday, fantastic" while poor parents are thinking 'what the hell do I do now"

Birds going mad for the food I have put out, rooks are bullies there is a thrush trying to get a bite, the rooks immediately went for him/her.. I went into the garden the snow is well over a foot deep.. I have been forbidden from going out!!! It looks beautiful, good inspiration for me to get painting, all those birds sitting in the cherry tree will be a good subject..Keep warm everyone... Cannot help thinking of the homeless!!

We put the RoSPA bird cake I bought at Sainsbury's out last night! I haven't checked to see if it is gone yet - we do get a few birds around here but not very many.......

We have the snow now--started about 8am and coming down fast
I have been out and put seed on the bird table as we felt guilty as the pidgeons and
the blackbirds were standing in a row on the garage roof looking at us in the conservatory
as if they were willing me to go out with their food
Daughter has just phoned and ordered us to stay indoors today
We were going to take her birthday pressie over but she says the roads are really
bad and it is about 8 miles mostly open countryside.

Very sensible advice Lissie, you stay where you are. She will have a lot of belated presents to look forward to this year.

It's not stopped here all day and we've probably got close to 2" on the back garden path which was clear last night.
One of the high schools in town has already said that it's closed tomorrow but it's a Catholic school and many of their pupils are bussed in from around the area so that's perhaps why they've taken this decision so early.

We have had light but consistent snow all day today - we probably have 3-4" accumulated out there now.

Everything looks very "picture postcard" under the street-lamps.

Just had a text from Tom and Joe's school to say they're closed tomorrow.
