Di, we haven't got a fireplace and I love that there's nothing that we have to work around when deciding where to put furniture. We were really limited in our old house.

Just back from a cold and icy - but sunny and beautiful - 4 mile walk. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed it. We're having coffee now before starting the run around.

Well done Saundra!

I don't have a fireplace just put a piece of marble on the floor
Stood a pretend black wood burner on it
And a shiny black floating shelf above

We have a fireplace and a bay window so are very limited.

And in the dining room too.

Well done with the kindle Saundra :P

We're not doing the whole wall today, but may do it tomorrow, otherwise whatever day this week Bb's got enough time.
The bit where the fireplace was needs more coats as it was bare, so it will even out.
Getting it started was the easiest way to show him doing it one wall at a time is the simplest way to do the room. You can't do it all at once when it's a living/dining room and there's a big hairy dog in it, as well as furniture that can't go anywhere else ;)

Jo we've debated the fireplace thing ever since we moved in; we really need new furniture - thing for the Tv etc., sideboard, and Something Else (don't know quite what!). What we have is ancient and tatty - the TV's on the unit I got from freecycle earlier this year but it's not really any good, the shelves are deep but not tall enough...
The after-Christmas sales are usually the cheapest so hopefully we'll find some then.
We'll get there in the end :)

There's bound to be something in the sales Di :)

Our living room in our old house was small, around 12ft square and we had a large bay window, a fireplace and three doors (the door off the hall and then double doors into the dining room). We lived for years with just a 2 seater sofa in there as it was all that would fit when the boys were little and had toy boxes in there too. Once the toy boxes were gone we progressed to a 2 seater and an armchair. By then though we'd extended the kitchen and taken the double doors off and gone open plan but that then meant we had two fireplaces to contend with as there was one in what used to be the dining room too

Three of our neighbours have houses the same as ours and they've all had fireplaces put in.

Ha, I also have a bay window (well a half bay) a fireplace, an arch through to the dining room, a kitchen door and a hall door....really not much 'free' space at all! I've got a little tree on a table becasue there's really nowhere else to put it. Maybe if we had the tv on the wall rather than on a unit, but I dont like looking 'up' while viewing....

We've had a smashing morning - it's a gorgeous if cold day, so we had a lie in and then took the dogs down to the beach for a run about. It was fab! As I'm usually working Sat mornings, it made it even better to think I'd normally have been at work LOL!!

This evening is my staff meal out. I'm really 'meh' about going, our bosses have been such PITAs this year, but the pull is meeting the newer staff, one of whom I have been allocated the Secret Santa gift for!! I have painted my nails and will wash my (very dark!!!) hair shortly....maybe I can calm the darkness down a bit....

T was meant to be going out with work this aftie but he cancelled as he is needed at the farm tomorrow and he doesn't want to work there with a hangover LOL!! It's good for me though as it means he can come collect me after the meal tonight - D had said she'd come for me and drop my friend off too, bless her, but although that would've been lovely I would rather have arranged a taxi as its late for her to have to come out. J has just left - she's popping to town first to get some last minute pressies and then she is heading straight to work - the second in a long week of evening shifts! She isn't happy.....

Have a good Saturday all xx

Have a lovely time tonight Gal! It's John's office night out tonight but for the first time ever we're not going! The secretary sent a vote around with a choice of two venues and most people voted for the one we've never been to before....so she booked the other one, the one we were at last year. It's at a golf course and wasn't very good last year, too much 'entertainment' and John, myself and the secretary's husband found a bar and escaped there whilst the R&B tribute band were performing  The evening wasn't helped by the heels from hell that I was wearing either. It was either sit and listen to the R&B band or stand by the bar in the heels from hell. Standing was slightly less torturous. Also, the company's expanded quite a bit over the last couple of years and most of the new blokes are real David Brents so not much fun to spend time with.

Ooh have a lovely time Gal :)
Jo funnily enough I'd wondered about John's Christmas do :D

Yep, bay window too :D
And double doors from the hall the l/rm end, door to kitchen the dining end. It is a farly big room really, but Bb has such a lot of work stuff we need furniture for things to go in, on, under and behind :(
